Ghost of Tsushima Confirmed for a PS4 Release, Sony Reiterates

The news of the video game has been marked today by the announcement of the launch of PlayStation 5 by the end of 2020, setting the date for the new generation of Sony consoles. Although we have talked about the discs and the new command, some have begun to speculate on the first videogames that will arrive on the system. Will Ghost of Tsushima be one of the launch titles? According to Sony, no. The video game will arrive on PlayStation 4 and is still projected as a game for the current gen-console.

Ghost of Tsushima, which was announced in October 2017, is being developed by Sucker Punch, and according to the latest news, it would still be built within the studio. The script was far from over last April, so many of the suspicions about a PlayStation 5 release were not entirely unfounded. In fact, since June 2018, nothing new has been seen publicly. Sony Interactive Entertainment president Jim Ryan confirms that the expected video game of Sucker Punch will be released on the current gen-console.

“While there’s much more to share about PlayStation 5 in the year ahead, we have plenty of blockbuster experiences coming your way on PS4, including Death Stranding, The Last of Us Part II, and Ghost of Tsushima,” said Ryan on the official PlayStation blog while announcing the new details of PlayStation 5.

He is not the only director of the Japanese company to reveal new information about the open-world action game as Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide Studios, has not hesitated to applaud the visual work of the game, which he considers very beautiful. However, a note: that it will release on PlayStation 4 does not rule out that it also does on PlayStation 5 with some kind of improved version.

With Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch will transfer us to the year 1274, just when the Mongol Empire invaded Japan, being the remote island of Tsushima one of its first stops. There, and incarnating a fierce samurai, we must survive the waves of the invading empire, helping civilians and going unnoticed when we are outnumbered.

As confirmed by Sony, the idea of the studio is to recreate the historical past with great truth and accuracy, offering us the possibility of visiting real areas of the aforementioned island and using various usual weapons of folklore and Japanese culture.
