Thousands of Overwatch Players Banned by Blizzard for Cheating

Overwatch debuted last week around the world, and now, Blizzard Entertainment has banned a large number of players. But the special case comes from China, where more than 1500 players were permanently expelled, manifesting in hacking forums that is not possible to fool detection traps of the studio. Even Blizzard listed out the cheaters in its forum.

The same is happening with users in the West, who are reporting in forums that their attempts to deceive the game were useless. For example, a player mentioned that once he was banned, he decided to buy the game again and not use traps, but a couple of days later, he was expelled for the second time, probably because Blizzard detected his PC. However, the same player decided to change its MAC address, the data of identification of his processor and more information, but it was of no use to access Overwatch.

So, Blizzard is trying cheaters with a heavy hand, and as evidence, a person decided to show the email that was sent by the studio on the termination of his account. “We don’t take this decision lightly,” the email reads. “Our team issued this closure after a careful review of relevant evidence. Our support staff will not overturn these closures and may not respond to appeals.”

In related information, Blizzard Entertainment reported that Overwatch already has 7 million players on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. As if that was not enough, the studio also mentioned that the user community numbers more than 119 million hours of play.

In addition, Blizzard reported that since the departure of Overwatch, players “have changed Hero 326 million times and have joined in teams to escort and deliver 11 million loads to their destinations on the battlefield”.
