Take-Two: We Are Focused On Players, Not Payers
Undoubtedly Take-Two Interactive is one of the most successful companies in the industry and holds the possession, publication, and distribution of one of the most successful games today and of all time, Grand Theft Auto V. Alongside the game is its online component, Grand Theft Auto Online, and its successful monetization model that has not been rejected by the players and Strauss Zelnick spoke on the subject.
After participating in the presentation of the recent financial report of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of the company, was questioned about the success of his microtransactions models in titles such as NBA 2K18 and Grand Theft Auto Online.
In this regard, Zelnick mentioned that the company’s strategy has always been to captivate and attract players and its primary objective is to keep them excited and happy and that has allowed great financial results to be delivered. According to Zelnick, the way the world and the industry are changing represents for the company something exciting as they have the opportunity to keep players engaged and increase the number of users of a game.
Regarding the success of GTA Online, the manager of Take-Two assured that the focus of the company is because they consider players, not buyers and in the end they seek to offer interesting and relevant content that everyone can access, something that, according to his statement, has a consequence that people feel motivated to pay for another type of content that enrich or personalize their experience.
Finally, Zelnick considered that the overall success of Grand Theft Auto V and its online component is a product of the quality and the great experience that they have provided to the players because, he assured, there are no “secret sauce” to succeed in the industry.
