Report: Super Mario Run downloaded 10 million times in 24 hours according to new estimates
While waiting for the first data of downloads and revenues that are generated officially for Super Mario Run from App Annie – through a statement sent to Polygon – have estimated to have generated 10 million downloads in the first 24 hours of the availability of the game, generating more than $4 million in revenue.
Super Mario Run is now available for Apple mobile devices and is a free download that allows to enjoy the first levels of the game. To unlock its content, Nintendo has opted for a single payment of 9.99 dollars, thus avoiding micropayments and other business models.
After 24 hours, the game has been the most downloaded title in more than 60 countries, according to data supplied by App Annie.
These estimates are therefore better than those made by TechCrunh, which placed the volume of downloads to 2.8 million.
Interestingly, we remind you that Nintendo shares have fallen after the release of the game, although it was a trend that was seen watching all week. However, the fact is that some analysts had expected the game would not have the expected success, although the first data are being clearly positive.
Super Mario Run, as its name indicates, is about a runner, that is to say, a game in which our character is advancing only automatically, so our goal is to jump and implement all the usual movements of Mario to avoid obstacles and enemies that are coming in our way.
Its free version will let us play the first three phases and the first 20 seconds of the first boss. To access the full edition we will have to pay 9.99 dollars.
We remind you that the game requires internet connection and that it is only compatible with iOS 8.0 or later. It can be played on both the iPhone and iPad and iPod touch. If you are Android users you will have to wait until next year to enjoy the game.
