PS4 Sales Surpass 70.6 Million Units Worldwide, PSVR Exceeds 2 Million
Sony has announced new sales records for its gaming console of PS4 and PSVR, propelled by the approach of the holiday season and the famous Black Friday.
As of December 3, the console of PlayStation 4 has accumulated 70.6 million sales worldwide, bringing together sales of the PS4 Standard and the PS4 Pro. On the gaming side, the firm does not have to blush since it accounts for a total of 617.8 million sales at the same date, accounting for both physical and digital sales.
As for PlayStation VR, the company’s virtual reality headset, it has reached the milestone of two million sales for 12.2 million accounting games (no clarification if it is exclusive PSVR titles or just “compatible”).
Andrew House, president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, is pleased with these results and is pleased that virtual reality is gaining ground. “We are delighted that so many people are enjoying the unique entertainment proposition of PlayStation 4 and that an emerging technology like PlayStation VR continues to gain traction. I cannot thank our fans and partners enough. Their support, since the launch of very first PlayStation in 1994, has helped to make PlayStation one of the biggest console gaming network in the world. We will continue to work closely with partners to maintain this momentum and remain steadfast in making PS4 the best place to play,” House said.
Recall that a new model of the PSVR headset is currently in preparation and is already available in Japan.
