There have been rumors for some time that a new Tomb Raider is in development; however, Square Enix had not commented on it. Fortunately, that changed today when the dealer announced that a new Lara Croft adventure is on our way.
Through the official Tomb Raider account on Twitter, Square Enix confirmed that a new Tomb Raider installment is on the way. That said, the studio did not share more details about it since on this occasion it wants to do things differently. What it is referring to is that its goal is for little time to pass between the revelation of this game and its release.
Finally, the distributor said that this new adventure will start at an important event to be held next year. The bad news is that it did not go deeper, so for now, all we have left is to wait.
“Square Enix is excited to share some big news with you next year. Honestly, we wish we could share it with you right now but we’re taking a new approach this time. A new Tomb Raider game is coming. Driven by our goal of putting our fans first, we want you to know that it won’t be very long between the official reveal and when you can play. Our journey together will begin with a major event in 2018,” Square Enix said on the social network.
According to reports, rumors have long been circulated that Square Enix is preparing a new installment of Tomb Raider. According to one source, the name of this project will be Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and unlike the previous two installments, it is developed by Eidos Montreal (Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Thief) and not by Crystal Dynamics.
