Peter Molyneux, creator of the Fable series, admitted that he would love to return to their flagship franchise. In a recent interview, the British creative confessed that if possible, he would like to develop Fable 4.
“It’s crazy that Fable IV isn’t being made. I would love to do Fable IV, and the studio tried to do it. You’d have to get the original team back together though,” said Molyneux in a chat with OXM (recovered by GamesRadar).
Although Molyneux’s words may excite some, it is important to note that today more than ever a sequel to Fable seems impossible. As you know, Lionhead studio responsible for the franchise, closed its doors a few months ago, and although Microsoft has shown it is open to provide the IP, it is unlikely that its creators will produce a AAA experience without the support of a distributor.
Later, Molyneux decided to talk about his time at Lionhead studio and relationship with Microsoft. According to the creative, they were relieved when Microsoft bought the studio because some of its members like Phil Spencer or Kudo Tsunoda really are “passionate about games.”
Molyneux left Lionhead in 2012 to found a new independent studio -22Cans- with which he launched GODÜS and GODÜS Wars. His most recent project is The Trail, a title for mobile that arrived in September this year.
