Nintendo Switch Virtual Console service will not be available at launch

Nintendo today announced that the Virtual Console service will not be available on Switch to the launch of the console. The reason for this decision was not made or known, more details on Virtual Console Switch will come in the near future.


Nintendo has confirmed that Switch will not have Virtual Console at launch.  Virtual console is the functionality that allows you to buy classic games from other Nitendo consoles. “Virtual Console games will not be available on Nintendo Switch at launch. We will share more information in the future,” Nintendo said in a statement.

At the launch of the console (scheduled for March 3) it will therefore not be possible to download the classic games of old platforms, we look forward to further details on the Virtual Console for Nintendo Switch, however, according to some rumors in fact, you will also be able to download the games for GameCube, although there are currently no direct confirmations about it.

In addition, the company has confirmed two more games for the launch of the console:  Shovel Knight and FAST RMX.

According to Nintendo, Switch is primarily a desktop console, but it will be possible to switch to portable mode with ease to be used wherever the player wants, thanks to its modular design that allows to fit the controls on a screen.

Recall that Nintendo Switch will hit store shelves on March 3, 2017.
