According to the information the publisher Square Enix has revealed details to promote a relaunch of its game, the new version of Final Fantasy IX including new achievements, autosave functionality, a high-speed mode, and various general improvements. According to Kotaku, the publisher plans to release a port for PC and smartphones at some point in 2016. That said, Square Enix has not prevented release of Final Fantasy on other ports outside Japan, so it’s a matter of time before a pitch for America and Europe is announced.

Square Enix has also announced that this game has been sold more than 5 million copies since its launch on the first PlayStation console. However, there was also a PSN re-release for the PlayStation 3, the PS Vita and the PSP. “Now you can experience the adventure of Zidane and his friends in your hand,” said the Japanese company. The game will be available on iOS and Android devices also.

Below you can see a first trailer for the PC version of Final Fantasy IX. Now it remains to be hoped that Square Enix also promptly releases Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD for the PC to complete the series on Steam.
