Falcom: The Legend of Heroes & Ys Titles Switch Port Could Be “Possible”

Nihon Falcom is known in Japan for several games among which the series of Ys and Trails (The Legend of Heroes) stand out. These franchises, however, are not available on Nintendo Switch, the console with the best position in the Japanese market. This could no longer be so in the future, as recently the president of Nihon Falcom, Toshihiro Kondo, spoke about the interest they have in launching their games on the Nintendo console.

In an interview with DualShockers, the executive mentioned that the company’s games could arrive on Nintendo Switch and that to achieve this they would form an alliance with various distributors. “We have talks in progress with multiple publishers regarding possible Switch games, but I can’t tell you anything precise yet or if it will happen or not,” Kondo explained when he was questioned about the possibility of seeing more adaptations for Nintendo Switch, as previous releases of The Legend of Heroes: Trails franchise.

On previous occasions, the developer had already expressed that the reason they cannot develop for Nintendo Switch is the ignorance of how to do it on the platform. Because of this, Nippon Ichi Software was in charge of the port version of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana for the hybrid console. Thus, it seems that Nihon Falcom is interested in bringing his title to Nintendo Switch and it is very likely that, if it happens, they will also reach the West, as was the case of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. We will keep you informed.

Earlier this year, the developer revealed that they were preparing more adaptations for PlayStation 4, so it would be very pleasing to see such titles also releasing on the Nintendo Switch. On the other hand, the next game of the Ys series will be Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, but so far it is only confirmed for Japan and will release on September 26 on PlayStation 4.
