Dead Island 2 gets into development by Sumo Digital

Good news about the future of Dead Island 2, because the publisher Deep Silver has announced that the game has been entrusted to a new development studio which is none other than Sumo Digital.

The Dead Island license scored points from many players because of the first episode, developed by Techland Studio, which was particularly attracted by its memorable first trailer. Moreover, it is a FPS game focused on survival, and taking any interest in the opportunity to play cooperatively to four players.

Following a disagreement between Techland and publisher Deep Silver, the project of Dead Island 2 has been entrusted to another studio Yager Development. For its part, Techland has addressed the design of Dying Light. During last summer, Deep Silver has finally decided to withdraw the project from Yager Development, leaving Dead Island 2 orphaned, threatening its continuity.

Ultimately, the development of Dead Island 2 will now resume, the publisher has found a new British studio Sumo Digital for the same. The company has already shown different version of OutRun and more recently Forza Horizon 2 and LittleBigPlanet 3.

Information about the game will soon be communicated, if one believes the comments relayed on the MCV site. The question is whether the studio will be able to retranscribe that made the success of the series and offer innovative elements.

Dead Island 2 is due for release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One at a date yet to be announced.
