Blackwood Crossing to launch in 2016 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One
The independent studio PaperSeven, formed by former members of Black Rock studio of Disney, has announced Blackwood Crossing.
The game, launching for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, will be an adventure title with a strong narrative component. They are worked hard along with Oliver Reid-Smith, author of The Room.
Blackwood Crossing will be a narrative first-person adventure that explores the relationship between Scarlett and Finn, orphaned siblings to be diverged when Scarlett reaches the age of maturity and leaves childhood behind. When their paths cross with a mysterious figure, “a seemingly ordinary train ride evolves into a magical story of life, love and loss.”
“This is our first original game since forming PaperSeven and we are immensely proud to be announcing it,” said Alice Guy, cofounder of PaperSeven. “There’s been some fantastic narrative adventure games coming out in recent times – we’re hoping to take a place at this table whilst offering something different to what’s come before. Blackwood Crossing is evidence of our desire to explore experiences with depth and meaning, and create characters that challenge the often clichéd gaming landscape.”

Playing as 14-year-old Scarlett, you navigate this powerful drama. The world and your abilities develop in extraordinary ways, and you are forced to examine your relationship with Finn, your 10-year-old brother. Orphaned when your parents died in a car accident, your relationship with him has always been strong. However, adolescence has opened the door to other interests away from home, and you’ve been growing apart.
As you gradually uncover the true depths of Finn’s anguish the consequences of your remoteness become shockingly clear.
The mood of the game rises and falls with the narrative. And you’ll need to be ready for an emotional ride!
