BioWare forums are closing down in August 2016 forever
BioWare forums will close on 26 August, the development team reported in the latest blog entry. With this, the communities of Dragon Age, Mass Effect and others will disappear.
The BioWare developer today announced that its forum (mostly at least) will be closed on August 26. Among the various platforms involved are the spaces dedicated to the Dragon Age community, Mass Effect and more.
“This was not an easy decision,” said community manager of the studio, Conal Pierse. “Our players are important to us. Your feedback, stories, and love for our games drive and inspire us.”
According to Pierse, this decision was made because BioWare has better presence on other social platforms like Facebook and Twitter, and fans of their games have different communities of Tumblr and Reddit.
“With so many great things so widely available, our developers today find themselves spending more time on other sites, and less time in our own forums,” said Pierse. ” And to our fans and players who came to those boards looking to talk to us, it was a great disservice.”
Consequently, users no longer will be able to make entries in the forums, which currently has over 20 million posts and above half a million members. After August 26, the files will remain open in case anyone wants to see them again, but on October 25 everything will disappear completely.
However, the only forum that will continue to be the asset of Star Wars: The Old Republic. This site is separate to the website of BioWare and has several dedicated inputs to massively multiplayer online game.
