Just as the industry is dynamic in terms of the mobility of the developers, it is also dynamic with respect to the managers of the companies. In this case, it was the turn of Phil Harrison, a former PlayStation and Microsoft executive, who announced his arrival at Google.
Today, Phil Harrison announced on his official Twitter account that he has joined the ranks of Google as Vice President and General Manager, which he has held since the first hour of this day. Although he has not revealed the goal that Google has in mind, nor the reason why this decision was made, it is expected to have something to do with video games.
Harrison has 16 years of work at Sony, a company he joined in 1992 and was an important player in the promotion of the PlayStation, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 consoles. In 2005 he was appointed as CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment and in 2008 he announced his departure from the company.
After a brief stint at Atari and participating in the Gaikai service, Harrison joined Microsoft and served as corporate vice president, until his departure in 2015.
Google has been outgrowing the game’s industry and can harness the experience of Harrison on virtual reality. Harrison has recently been upgraded and has invested in artificial intelligence companies.
