Xbox Boss Phil Spencer confirms more releases for Steam
During a live broadcast of E3 2016, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, spoke about the relationship between first-party games from Microsoft and the Steam platform from Valve. According to their statements, major titles will later come to this medium.
“I look at Steam today, it’s on an incredible growth trajectory. It’s a massive force in gaming; a positive force. I think it will be bigger a year from now than it is today. And five years later it will still be bigger again,” he said. “I look at Valve as an important [independent software vendor] for us on Windows. They are a critical part of gaming’s success on Windows. I don’t think Valve’s hurt by not having our first-party games in their store right now. They’re doing incredible well. We will ship games on Steam again.”
The manager also mentioned that although they take more games to Steam, its intention is to build an own Xbox Store on PC. And to give examples talked about how they have played in PC titles like Forza 6 Apex, Quantum Break, Killer Instinct and Gears of War Ultimate Edition.
Meanwhile, some of the titles of Microsoft on Steam are Age of Empires II HD and Ori and the Blind Forest. According to Spencer, between Microsoft and Valve there are areas of cooperation and areas of competence, but as said that’s good for users.
