If you have a PC with a recent Intel or AMD processor but chose to use as a Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 operating system you will have to note that as of this month you will no longer receive updates, as Microsoft has confirmed that it will not support these operating systems on computers that have latest processors.
Microsoft is pursuing its policy of expanding Windows 10 with a new block for older versions of its OS. After ending support for Windows Vista on April 11, 2017, it is the turn of computers running Windows 7 and 8.1 to stop receiving major updates. At least not for all: only those with very recent processors.
According to a report from the site of Ars Technica, Microsoft will block this month the arrival of updates for Windows 7 and 8.1 on the following processors:
1. Intel Seventh Generation: “Kaby Lake”
2. Intel Sixth Generation: “Skylake”
3. AMD Ryzen
4. AMD “Bristol Ridge”
5. Qualcomm “8996” Snapdragon
The decision was made by Microsoft because it believes that the new processors were created to operate with the latest version of the operating system, Windows 10, and compatibility with previous operating systems would present problems.
Although last month Microsoft released the warning but did not gave a specific date, however from these days the actions began and some users, in this situation of previous software and recent hardware, received this notice when they want to update their operating system:
