The Last of Us Part 2 Won’t Support Online Multiplayer, Days of Play PS4 Packaging Suggests

By covering the production of The Last of Us Part 2, there is a part about which we hear not talked too much: the multiplayer. This may be because the game will not have a multiplayer mode if the PS4 Days of Play limited edition box is right.

If you look at the image of shown below, you will see an underlined section in red saying “…God of War and The Last of Us Part II do not support online multiplayer.” This may be a mistake, since the game still is far from being released, but it is an important detail.

This seems to contradict the fact that we received confirmation from Naughty Dog that The Last of Us Part 2 would include a multiplayer component. Now, this idea could have been discarded to save development time, but it seems unlikely given the positive reception of the online mode of the first game. For now, we should assume that this is just a box error until we hear the official confirmation from Sony or Naughty Dog.

We also recently reported on the release date of the game, which may have been accidentally revealed by the actress who plays Ellie, Ashley Johnson. She was asked when the game would come out and she started saying “February” before being cut. If this is true, it is possible that the planned multiplayer of the game has been canceled to come out in 2020. But we will not count on it.

What do you think of this potential error of the box? Do you think it’s a mistake or the game will be released without multiplayer mode? Tell us in the comments below.
