The Last Guardian Creator Explains the Development Stage of His New Game
Fumito Ueda, the creative behind ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian, is developing his new video game. Although we already knew some details of the concepts, now Ueda tells EDGE magazine how ambitious is his new work and the innovative technology used in it.
Fumito Ueda, the head of the GenDesign studio, is already immersed in the development of his new and awaited video game. The resulting game will be more ambitious, bigger and colossal than ever and, as he points out, thanks to the technology employed, it will offer unprecedented and much more rounded results than those shown in Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian, which according to him were limited by the tools and by the existing technology in its conception.
“In the past, it would take a week or two for an idea in my head to be realized in the game,” says Ueda. “However, now that we have modern tools at our disposal, we can fully realize a new idea in a matter of days or hours,” adds the Japanese creator. “The way we’re building our next game just wasn’t conceivable years ago when we developed The Last Guardian and Shadow of the Colossus,” he concluded.
