PlayStation VR could be compatible with PC in the future, as stated by Masayasu Ito, vice president of Sony Computer Entertainment.
Since the announcement of the PlayStation VR, a key issue that has been observed is that of PC compatibility. At the time, the Oculus Rift was expected between $200 and $400, but given the price difference now (399 euros against 699 euros), it could be an interesting alternative if it were to land on PC. And Sony seems to consider the question.
Indeed, in an interview with Nikkei, Masayasu Ito said the company has big plans for virtual reality device and, in fact, considered it to other platforms other than PlayStation 4. However, if this should occur, it would not be very soon.
“Since Playstation 4 shares a lot of its internals with PCs, the possibility is there,” Ito said. “At the moment we are focused on games and we are not ready to make any announcements at this stage, but I’d say there will be an expansion into various fields,” he added.
PlayStation VR will be released in October. It will be priced separately $399 USD, but will also come in a package with the PlayStation Camera.
