SEGA confirms development of a new Sonic Game
After much speculation, Takashi Iizuka, head of Sonic Team, confirmed that they are working on a new game of Sonic, this with the motive of the 25th anniversary of the franchise.
The Sonic Team has officially confirmed that it is working on a new game starring the famous mascot of Sega through an interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu, dean of the press of Japanese video games.
The information emerged during an interview with Famitsu, when Takashi Iizuka said that “we at Sonic Team are developing a completely new game”. Unfortunately, so far no more details are given, but this confirms that a new title of the blue hedgehog is coming.
Iizuka went on to mention that “the most important thing is not the fact the series survived for 25 years, but how many games was developed”. For now, we just know that the team’s goal will be to “add something new and overcome any potential hardships”.
Moreover, Iizuka mentioned that they are in a partnership with Sony Pictures to produce a film based on Sonic, but it will come in 2018. According to the first comments of the company, this film will mix live action with animation.
So we can only wait for more information, and many assume that more news will arrive on July 22 this year, it will be the date when the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog will happen.
