Rime Developer Talks About Performance Issues on Nintendo Switch
After a long wait, Rime made its much-anticipated debut on Nintendo Switch, but unfortunately, it has several performance issues.
Users who have the game report that the frame rate of Rime for Nintendo Switch is reduced in some moments, a fact that, although it does not ruin the experience, it can cause some inconvenience. While a similar situation is presented in their editions for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, everything seems to indicate that the performance is considerably worse on the hybrid console.
To illustrate, the Direct Feed Games channel published a video comparing the performance of Rime on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Check it below:
A few days ago, Tequila Works members recognized this problem in a Reddit AMA and responded the following: “Rime runs at 30fps in 720p throughout most of the game while docked. This is a considerable improvement from where the game was at earlier this year when we announced the first delay. While we have done an excellent job at bringing the standard frame rate up, the one problem we were unable to address completely were loading hitches. RiME uses a technique called streaming which allows us to have portions of the level loaded and unloaded in order to save on memory utilization.”
In other news, a couple of months ago, members of the Rime development team revealed that it was necessary to delay the version for Switch since many of the corrections and optimizations they implemented took longer than necessary. On the other hand, you should bear in mind that its physical version was delayed, so you will have to wait a few more days to have it in the cartridge.
Rime is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. Have you already played Rime on Nintendo Switch? What do you think about its performance problems? Tell us in the comments below.
