Resident Evil 7 will not feature quick time events
There will be many changes that Resident Evil 7 will suffer over its predecessors; Capcom has already mentioned that the game will be in the first person, and that will turn into an atmosphere of survival horror, which will leave behind a gameplay based on the action. Capcom has announced that there will be no quick time events in Resident Evil 7, for the relief of many fans of the famous title.
Now, in an interview published on Capcom Unity blog, the producer of Resident Evil 7, Masachika Kawata, confirmed that the game will not have QTE (quick time events), the actions in which players had to press buttons at certain times so that the sequences follow its course.
“I know there are a lot of people who will be relieved to hear that. In the 20 year history of Resident Evil, you know that the key pillars of the game are fear and horror, exploration of the environment, puzzle-solving elements, resource management, and combat against enemies…Those are all in this game, but we wanted to start off with the first two — horror and exploration — and get you experiencing those two pillars up front. If you’re thinking that because those other elements aren’t in the demo, that they won’t be in the game, that’s not the case. We’re focusing up front about the message of horror coming home in this demo.”
Regarding the concerns of fans by returning to Resident Evil game with a supernatural undercurrent, rather than scientific, the director Nakanishi said that the essence of the franchise will be respected.
The game director also said that they “haven’t just thrown out Resident Evil as it exists and turned it into a ghost story. It will all make sense in the end.”
Resident Evil 7 is scheduled to hit PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One on January 24, 2017.
