Remedy Entertainment will work on multiplayer games

If there is something that distinguishes Remedy Entertainment, is that from the beginning it has developed games focused on the single player, such as Max Payne, Alan Wake and Quantum Break. Well, it seems that the company is thinking about changing direction, since it confirmed that now it will make multiplayer games.

Undoubtedly, the solo game is still important to Remedy, as said by the director Mikael Kasurinen and creative director Sam Lake through a post on their page, but at the same time, the studio wants to go further.

“We want to challenge ourselves to find ways to also expand these elements to include cooperative multiplayer” they said. “We will always strive to be the best storytellers we possibly can, and we want these stories to be shared and elevated through players’ cooperation. We believe that a multiplayer experience combined with Remedy’s unique world-building provides an exceptional environment for that.”

So far, we know that Remedy is working on multiple projects that will come in the future. The studio is using its own tools and game engine of Northlight to make them possible.

And if that was not enough, the studio is hiring a network programming chief, who “will be at the center of developing and shaping the multiplayer technology and features of Northlight.”

In recent information, Remedy confirmed that there are 2 development teams working on different projects. The first is focused on the game’s campaign of CrossFire 2, while the other is working on a secret game looking for a distributor who is willing to bet on the company.
