Rockstar: Red Dead Redemption 2 Campaign Is 60-Hour Long

During an interview published at Vulture, Dan Houser (co-founder of Rockstar Games) spoke about the making of the development of Red Dead Redemption 2, also revealing some details about the studio’s next blockbuster.

Houser begins the long talk revealing that the campaign of Red Dead Redemption 2 will last about 65 hours and that to achieve it the developers worked up to 100 hours a week, with the aim of taking care of even the smallest details. The script counts 2000 pages and if printed it would be about two and a half meters high, with over 500,000 lines of total dialogue.

Red Dead Redemption 2 required motion capture sessions of 2,200 days, which allowed them to create over 300,000 different animations. The development began in 2010, the motion capture sessions in 2013 and the recordings of the songs for the soundtrack in 2015. In total, over 1,200 actors collaborated, 700 of whom were talking with about 80 pages of dialogue each.

Finally, Houser admits that ” Red Dead Redemption 2 is the biggest project of Rockstar Games” and reveals that from the complete game about five hours of content have been cut. In conclusion, the interviewer asks if Red Dead Redemption 2 will have a sequel “if this one does well enough and we think we have other interesting things to say.”

Before leaving, we remind you that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26, 2018 on PS4 and Xbox One. There is also rumor of a future PC version, but for now there is nothing for sure.
