Rage 2: id Software Confirms No Loot Boxes

After yesterday’s announcement, Bethesda today showed a gameplay video of Rage 2 and unveiled that the title will be released next year. Soon after, the first details of gameplay, weapons, and vehicles emerged.

In an interview given to the German website GameStar, Tim Willits of id Software stated that the goal is to keep the players glued for a long period of time so that updates and content will be published on a regular basis.

More details in this regard will be provided soon, but in the meantime, the studio has ensured that the loot boxes purchased through microtransactions will not be included. In this regard, he declared, while laughing, the following: “We have this novel approach: You buy the game and then you play it.”

In another passage of the interview, however, Willits confessed that Rage 2 was thought from the beginning as a collaborative project, featuring the “id-like first-person shooter action. And at Avalanche is the Open World expertise.”

The director also made a brief reference to the type of game they tried to create, which aims to last for a long time: We think we can bring some fun stuff that makes it possible, but we’ll talk about it in more detail as we move closer to the release of Rage 2.”

Rage 2 is expected to release in 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. At the moment we do not know if an edition for Nintendo Switch will be realized as in recent times for some Bethesda productions.
