PS4 Firmware Update 5.50 Officially Detailed
Sony is currently working on the PS4 firmware update 5.50. According to reports, we recently learned that this update will include the supersampling mode for PlayStation 4 Pro. However, the update will also have some new features.
If you wonder what other optimizations PS4 firmware update 5.50 will have, you’ll be happy to know that Sony has already detailed the add-ons. First of all, we have Play Time Management, which is part of the parental control options. This option will allow you to manage the time of the game sessions on the console.
Play Time Management is designed for adults to control the total playing time of minors. The system will send notifications to the user so that they know that they can no longer play. Also, the tutors will have the possibility of adding extra time through their phone or a PC.
On the other hand, there will be improvements in the user interface, specifically in the library of games and applications. The “This PS4” tabs will be added, which will list all the installed programs. On the other hand, there will also be the “Name / Avatar” tab, which will show all applications acquired with a PSN ID. This will make it easier to find games or applications purchased, but that has not yet been installed.
Firmware 5.50 will also bring a special tab for PS Plus. In it, you will see the free titles of the service that you already have or if your subscription is expired. When this happens, you will see a PS Plus icon with a lock. And if that was not enough, you can also hide applications from your shopping list in the library.
So, you can hide beta versions or demos. In the quick menu, it will now be possible to see your friends connected. On the other hand, shortcuts will be added so that listening to music on the console is easier.
With the new update, you can delete all old notifications. In addition, it will be possible to import custom wallpapers via USB. The personalization of Tournament Team pages will also be enabled.
Finally, Sony claimed that the supersampling for PlayStation 4 Pro will visually improve some games, even if users do not have a 4K television. However, it was clarified that not all titles will be compatible with this mode.
There is still no release date for firmware 5.50, but it is expected to be available in the coming weeks.
