As announced a few days ago, here it is that Digital Foundry has finally unveiled the long-awaited technical specifications of Project Scorpio, the new console of Microsoft coming to market by the end of 2017.

CPU: Eight custom x86 cores clocked at 2.3 GHz
GPU: 40 customised compute units at 1172MHz
RAM: 12GB GDDR5
Memory Bandwidth: 326GB/s
Hard Disk: 1TB 2.5-inch
Optical drive: 4K UHD Blu-ray

It is not yet clear what kind of customization is being operated with the CPU, but it is certain that it is not a simple evolution of the Jaguar model. The console chipset, however, is a new SoC (System on Chip) developed in collaboration with AMD and confirms the presence of 4K Blu-Ray player.

According to the words of Digital Foundry, Project Scorpio “has a processor higher than that of PlayStation 4 Pro, in addition 4GB of memory, a faster hard disk, a 4K Blu-Ray player and a cooling system state of the art.”

The design of the console will be unveiled at E3 in Los Angeles, along with its price and release date, the launch is still set for the end of 2017.
