In leading position in the market for fair video games console, Sony never stays long though at the silent side figures, and this is a step that has just crossed for the PlayStation 4.

It is a little more than two years that the PlayStation 4 is available worldwide and immediately, the machine is imposed on the market, leaving its main competitor, the Xbox One, far behind.

With a perfectly mastered communication (but especially Microsoft’s total failure at this level) and a lower price, the PS4 quickly took the lead. And it seems that the pace of sales continues to remain at a relatively high level, thanks to the various packages offered and a recent price drop.

Sony announced its PlayStation 4 would have been sold more than 35.9 million to players, against 30.2 million last November. So these 5.7 million machines were sold during the holiday season.

The titles are selling similarly as well: in total, 35 million games have been sold during the end of year celebrations in physical stores and on PlayStation Store. Subscriptions of PlayStation Plus have recorded a 60% increase in subscriptions in the year.

Microsoft for its part remains miserly in figures and prefers comfort in advancing other statistics such as the number of games played. Still, the Xbox One seems to have finally taken off since its price drop and the latest promotional offers. The arrival of exclusive titles like Halo 5 also participated in flight. Now remains to be seen how Microsoft account counters the future success of Sony’s virtual reality headset PlayStation VR.
