Yesterday we told you about an unfortunate accident related to the Call of Duty community. A match with money in between ended in the murder of Andrew Finch, a resident of Wichita, Kansas. The local police investigated the facts and confirmed that everything was provoked by a joke in a bad taste.
Troy Livingston, the deputy chief of police, gave a press conference that was broadcasted on Facebook. In it, the man in uniform said that they investigated the Call of Duty players involved and reported the entire process that led to the death of Finch. Also, he shared a video showing the approach to the home of the alleged suspect.
“If the false call to the police had not been made, we would not have been there,” said Livingston. In addition, he confirmed that federal officials collaborated in the investigation. Lisa Finch, the mother of the young man who died, attacked the police and the person who started it all: “That policeman murdered my son for a false report in the first place, my son was not a player,” Lisa said.
The police assured that their investigations paid off since they already arrested one of those involved. His name is Tyler Barriss, 25, and he was arrested early this morning. Thus, it is confirmed that the subject is the same as was previously arrested for bomb threats.
There are still no details of the process that Barriss will face in the coming months. It is expected that the player will be accused of multiple charges. Meanwhile, the community opened a GoFundMe page to raise money and pay funeral expenses for Finch.
