Phil Spencer Comments on the Agreement Between Sony and Microsoft
Yesterday the news was known that Sony and Microsoft had strengthened their agreement to work jointly in the field of cloud services and AI technology. Of course, this agreement does not mean that both companies leave aside their competitiveness in the field of video games. But it does imply an approach in order to offer players better experiences. So, at least, it has been rated by Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox division.
“Excited about the opportunities ahead with Sony for us to pursue our mutual gaming ambitions and delight players around the world,” Phil Spencer said on his personal Twitter account.
In the past, Spencer has been a strong supporter of establishing more collaborative ties between the main companies in the sector. That’s why, recently, we also learned that Microsoft and Nintendo have begun to work more closely. Microsoft indeed confirmed that it was working to adapt Xbox Live to other platforms seeking to integrate as many ecosystems players as it can or have it its hand. Of course, although Switch is in its plans, and Cuphead is the main example, they will go little by little and play by the game to guarantee the maximum compatibility.
It is possible that this movement is stimulated by the announcement of Stadia, the streaming video game platform of the giant Google presented in the past GDC 2019. The agreement between Sony and Microsoft reflects that both companies will work together on solutions and technologies focused mainly on the Azure cloud services, while improving technology in relation to AI.
