Nintendo Responds To Problems of Third-Party Switch Docks Bricking The Console
A few days ago we informed you about a problem that was presented after the system update 5.0.0 for Switch, specifically in the consoles of some users who opted for docks manufactured by third parties. After the problem had spread in the media, Nintendo sent a statement in which it responded to this situation.
An update on the Kotaku report related to the problems that some users with third-party docks are experiencing in recent days refers to a Nintendo statement about the situation.
The Japanese company’s statement says: “Nintendo has issued a statement recommending that Switch owners only buy officially licensed Switch products, and Unlicensed products and accessories do not undergo Nintendo’s testing and evaluation process. They might not work at all with our game systems, and they could have compatibility problems with certain games, the Nintendo Switch system itself, and other licensed accessories and peripherals.”
Nyko has also issued a statement regarding the failures of its own dock:
“(Nyko is) aware of the issue some Portable Docking Kit owners are facing after updating the firmware on their Nintendo Switch to version 5.0. Though further testing is still required to determine the exact root cause of the problem, we believe it is related to the way the Switch handles AV output for an external TV/monitor while the console is docked on the Portable Docking Kit.”
In case you did not know, some Switch users were left with their consoles unusable after a compatibility problem arose between the console and third-party docks, particularly those manufactured and sold by the company Nyko.
