Mortal Kombat Movie Will Feature Game-Accurate Fatalities

Currently, we know that there is a new Mortal Kombat movie in process and that this film will be classified “R” because it will spare no glimpses of scenes full of gore, liters of blood and other fluids. With that in mind, there are those who want to know if the famous and classic fatalities that have been the hallmark of the franchise for decades will be as extreme as those of video games and Greg Russo responded to such questioning.

During an interview with Comic Book, Greg Russo, screenwriter of the Mortal Kombat movie, talked about the type of fatalities that we can expect in the film, since it already has a classification that allows it to not save anything about that type of content.

In that sense, the creative replied: “Game accurate? Yes, we are. I can say for sure that the fatalities that we’re going to put into the film are from the game. We’re going to come up with some new things that we haven’t seen before, but at the same time we want to … if we’re going to do it and use that device, we want to make sure that it’s not just in there just to be in there and have that point to the story. So everything will always have that point to what’s happening in the story, it will feel awesome and badass, and it’s going to play a role, you know, it’s not just going to be there just to be showy.”

The Mortal Kombat movie is scheduled to release on March 5, 2021, 10 years after the project was announced. The production is in charge of New Line Cinema and has the direction of Simon McQuoid and the production of James Wan.

Mortal Kombat 11 is available on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
