Hidetaka Miyazaki: Elden Ring “is a Third-Person Open World” Similar to Dark Souls

At the Microsoft conference, Elden Ring, the new game of FromSoftware and Bandai Namco was revealed. Unfortunately, we could not see much about it and the fans have many doubts. The good thing is that we already know a little more about what it will offer thanks to Hidetaka Miyazaki, its director, who revealed that it will be an open world and similar to Dark Souls.

In an interview with IGN, Miyazaki explained that Elden Ring will be a game similar to Dark Souls. Although he did not specify in what terms, these words seem to indicate that it will be a project that will have the emblematic FromSoftware seal.

Now, having a certain similarity does not mean that it will be exactly the same. In fact, Miyazaki stressed that there will be clear differences because this title will take place in an open world.

“Elden Ring is a third-person action RPG with a fantasy setting. Gameplay-wise, it’s heavily based on Dark Souls. However, that doesn’t mean that it plays out in the same way. With a more open and vast environment, the way combat plays out becomes fundamentally different.”

According to Miyazaki, players will have the opportunity to explore the world of the game on horseback. That said, you should not expect that in your adventures you will find cities or towns full of life and NPC. In their place, there will be desolate and destroyed villages.

Elden Ring is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
