Microsoft: Xbox Live has 53 Million Active Users
Recently, Microsoft released its earnings report for the last fiscal quarter ending June 30. The company spoke about the division of More Personal Computing, which is composed of Xbox, mobile phones, and tablets.
Thus, revenues in this segment were $8.8 billion, reflecting a 2% decline over last year. This decrease was attributed mainly to the low sales of mobile phones. On the other hand, video game revenue increased by 3%. “The strength in Xbox software and services offset lower hardware revenue,” Microsoft said.
Xbox software and services revenue increased 11% thanks to Xbox LIVE sales. The hardware gains are a different story, as Xbox fell by 29%. The decline is attributed to the poor sales of the console and its price drop.
There is also an increase in Xbox Live users. According to Microsoft, its online platform registered 53 million active users during this time. In comparison, the same quarter last year had 49 million users, keeping in mind that this figure covers console, PC, and mobile phone accounts.
In total, counting all its divisions, Microsoft recorded $23.3 billion in revenue, while profits reached $6.5 billion.
For now, Microsoft is preparing a strong launch, we refer to Xbox One X, which will be available on November 7. The console could help in the revenue increase of the company, as in its time spent with Xbox One S and PS4 Pro.
