Horizon Zero Dawn day one patch adds Performance mode for PS4 Pro
Horizon Zero Dawn will have a day one patch of 250 MB, a small update that adds the “Performance Mode” in the main menu of the game. Selecting it, you can optimize the performance of the title on PlayStation 4 Pro.
In particular, in the Performance mode the game will run at 1080p with enhanced graphics and a more stable framerate: this display mode can be activated either on Full HD TVs that on 4K panels.
Recall that Digital Foundry recently tested Horizon Zero Dawn of PS4 and PlayStation 4 Pro, the results are visible in a comparison video presented at the bottom of this news.
Apparently, the new IP of Guerrilla Games meets our high expectations, offering an excellent experience on both platforms. The game, in fact, does not present the usual problems of stuttering and frame pacing that often plague the open world and succeeds in most cases to maintain a frame rate of 30 fps.
On PS4 standard in some situations we see small drops of one or two frames, well masked by motion blur, which are even more sporadic on the Pro. The weather conditions seem to have no influence on performance. During the combat phase, the performance follows this trend, with many elements and particle effects on screen.
As for the graphic rendering, the Pro version can count on a better visual impact through greater draw distance and qualitatively close to native 4K resolution.
Horizon: Zero Dawn will be released on February 28 in the US and March 1 in Europe exclusively on the PlayStation 4.
