God of War Won’t Feature Loading Screens
In a new video development diary, Dori Arazi of Sony Santa Monica has revealed that the new God of War will not present loading screens in the transition from one area to another and between the various movie sequences, this is to ensure greater involvement of the player.
Arazi (in charge of the cinematic part and the filmed sequences) makes it known that the game was conceived as a high-level cinematic experience with a continuity solution (Single Shot), as a sort of single sequence plan without interruptions.
At the end of a filmed sequence or when moving to a new area, the action will never be interrupted by an upload, in this way the player will feel even more involved in the adventure and the narration will not be penalized by brutal disconnections.
In addition, in the film, Arazi explains how complicated it was to film all the scenes without any sudden change of framing, which required a perfect coordination between him, the actors and the Santa Monica technical team during filming. What do you think of this choice?
God of War is currently expected for April 20 on PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro, in the past hours Cory Barlog has confirmed the presence of Photo Mode, but this mode will be added after launch with a special patch.
