EA May Not Bring Microtransactions Back To Star Wars Battlefront II
Maybe the microtransactions will never be activated again in Star Wars Battlefront II. This is what Blake Jorgensen, the chief financial officer of Electronic Arts, told at a meeting with the company’s investors.
“We are working on improving the progression system. We turned the MTX off as an opportunity to work on the progression system inside the game. We’re continuing to do that. I think there’s an update this week and again next week. Overtime we’ll address how we will want to bring the MTX either into the game or not and what form we will decide to bring it into,” Jorgensen said at the 37th Nasdaq Investor Conference.
The statement comes in the wake of all the controversy caused by the presence of the feature in the game, which allows you to buy loot boxes with random content that can help players win more easily in online multiplayer mode.
At first, the system was temporarily disabled, under the pretext of making adjustments to make progression faster and less dependent on the purchase of credits with real money.
The Lawyer o Hawaii, Chris Lee, recently created new bills wanting to prohibit the sale of video games with loot boxes for minors and regulatory bodies in countries such as Australia and Belgium have already stated that they consider these items as gambling.
Star Wars Battlefront II is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
