EA: Battlefield V Will Not Have Any Form of Randomized Loot Boxes

0

A couple of hours ago, EA revealed Battlefield V, the next installment of DICE’s acclaimed FPS franchise. There it drew the attention of many that the studio announced that in this installment they will handle post-launch content in a different way by completely eradicating the Premium Pass and allowing players to obtain the maps and news they prepare for free. Apparently, that’s not the only exciting news, since EA said that the title will not have random loot boxes.

A spokesman for Electronic Arts confirmed them to various media – including Kotaku – that there will be no loot boxes in Battlefield V. Originally it was believed that after the controversy of Star Wars: Battlefront II, Battlefield V had to have loot boxes with cosmetic content that would be given randomly; however, the distributor assures that this system will not be in the shooter.

An interesting point is that Electronic Arts confirmed that the Battlefield V monetization system will be present in its customization system. That is, they will sell cosmetic items that can be purchased with the currency of the game (which is achieved by playing) or with real money. At the moment it is unknown if all personalization objects can be acquired with the game currency. Keep in mind that cosmetics will have no impact on the gameplay.

However, the product page of Battlefield V Deluxe Edition on the Microsoft store indicates that Battlefield V will have “a weekly Airlift system” and that those who preorder the game will receive 20 weekly supplies of Airlift with cosmetic objects. So far, DICE has not given details about what this means, but it seems that it will be a new way to unlock content.

Battlefield V will arrive on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on October 19. What do you think about this news? Are you glad that loot boxes will not arrive in Battlefield V? How do you think the Airlift system works? Tell us in the comments below.
