Diablo 4 & Overwatch 2 Release Date Scheduled for 2020?

Through the French newspaper LeMonde we got to discover some new information on some Activision Blizzard projects, namely Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2. To begin with, the magazine stated that the new chapter of Diablo is not only in the works but has also been in a playable form. The release date, according to when reported, would be 2020.

Then, there was a way to get some information on Overwatch 2. The follow-up to Blizzard’s online FPS would be in an advanced state of development, thanks also to the contribution of the French division of Blizzard. As for the release date, as long as we have no way of having the game in our hands before 2020, according to some sources close to Activision. The question now is whether Overwatch 2 was developed as an exclusive PS4 and Xbox One title (in addition to the obvious PC) or if, more likely, it is a cross-gen title for PS5, Xbox Scarlett and maybe Google Stadia.

Obviously, these are all rumors and should not be considered as official information. The rumors have also talked about a project never announced, a Starcraft FPS, canceled in order to concentrate development on Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2.

We know for sure that Activision Blizzard, following unsatisfactory financial results, has decided to reorganize itself internally, firing many employees (in the eSport and administrative sections, rather than the developer side). It seems that the objective of Activision is to speed up the development of the Blizzard title: a clear change of trend for a company that has made its own trademark “We’ll release it when it’s ready.”
