Yesterday evening, Activision has confirmed that the sequel to Destiny is currently under development with output expected at the end of 2017. The company’s CEO, Eric Hirshberg, then spoke briefly about the game to the shareholders during the last financial meeting of the company.
Activision has announced financial results for 2016, confirming among other things the release of Destiny 2 in 2017. The new episode of the series created by Bungie, will therefore arrive in stores later this year, although for more details we must probably wait for E3.
Hirshberg informed that “Activision is really excited about Destiny 2”, Bungie has been working on two fronts with the aim of improving the aspects of Destiny most beloved by players, this new episode is expected to present a plot more polished with a cinematic narrative mold as well as a better characterization of the characters, with a defined “memorable” cast.
Yesterday some rumor were leaked about Destiny 2: the game should be called Destiny 2 Forge of Hope and the output would be scheduled for the first half of November on PlayStation 4 (with support for PS4 Pro), PC and Xbox One. For the moment these are only unconfirmed rumors, the publisher has merely stated that the title will arrive at the end of 2017, without adding further details.
Returning to the financial results, GAAP net revenue for Activision totaled $6.6 billion in 2016, compared with 4.7 billion in 2015. To contribute to this success was also and above all Overwatch, as it was specified by CEO Bobby Cotick.
