Cyberpunk 2077 May Not Receive Multiplayer After Launch, Producer Reveals
Cyberpunk 2077 will release in 2020 and it will offer a single-player gaming experience: on this, CD developer Projekt Red was clear. But what will happen next? Following the launch, will we see the arrival of a multiplayer sector?
Recent comments by Adam Kiciński of CD Projekt Red have confirmed that 40 people were working on the multiplayer, not to mention a sort of initial focus on the next great game of Cyberpunk.
During Gamescom, CD Projekt Red’s senior concept artist, Marthe Jonkers, told Eurogamer.net that he is not sure about adding multiplayer in Cyberpunk 2077. The small team that is building the title is still in a research and development phase – and there has been no pressure to force things.
“We are doing R&D into multiplayer but we’re focusing on single-player experience, and that’s what you’ll get in 2020,” Jonkers told the Eurogamer media. “It doesn’t mean we’re saying no multiplayer, but it doesn’t mean we’re saying yes either. It’s still an R&D phase.”
Cyberpunk 2077 will release on April 16, 2020 for Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4. According to Borzymowski, CD Projekt is currently looking for a suitable idea for implementing a New Game Plus mode.
