Cyberpunk 2077 will undoubtedly be one of the best releases of 2020. This will happen not only for what is expected to be a work of immense quality, worthy of the creators of The Witcher 3, but for the social impact that is present in the game. In this sense, the title has always advocated a factor of inclusiveness that was enhanced during character creation. Now, this fact has been taken a step further by CD Projekt RED.
In this way, to the deep customization options previously mentioned we must now add the fact that no gender selection is given during the creation of our character, however, all the customization options will be available for every avatar. This was commented by the chief artist Marthe Jonkers during an interview with the Metro website:
“And our character creation menu, for instance, compared to the last demo we now give you so many more options. For instance, you don’t choose your gender anymore. You don’t choose, ‘I want to be a female or male character’ you now choose a body type. Because we want you to feel free to create any character you want,” senior concept artist Marthe Jonkers said to Metro.
“So you choose your body type and we have two voices, one that’s male sounding, one is female sounding. You can mix and match. You can just connect them any way you want. And then we have a lot of extra skin tones and tattoos and hairstyles. So we really want to give people the freedom to make their own character and play the way they want to play,” Jonkers said.
Thus, it seems that the elements mentioned above, which were still unknown how they would evolve for the future, have arrived to stay in Cyberpunk 2077. Also, CD Projekt RED indicated that it is for these things that they are always looking for feedback from the players, because they want to make everyone feel comfortable playing. Similarly, they are aware that in this way they invite everyone to have their own opinion, which may be contrary to theirs, but they are not afraid to look into controversial topics.
Cyberpunk 2077 will release on April 16, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
