Burnout Dev’s Extreme Driving Game Canceled for Star Wars

At E3 2014, Electronic Arts announced that Criterion studio best known for its work in series like Burnout and Need for Speed, was developing a game of extreme sports. Unfortunately, we have not heard more about this title, and that is because Electronic Arts has decided to cancel it.
During E3 2014, Electronic Arts revealed the project based on extreme sports will retain parts of the chaotic essence of the title Burnout Paradise. Although only vaguely sketched as prototype, the auspices of the title became very positive, but now the company has confirmed its cancellation.
According to the huge distributor, the promising project will not be realized because Criterion is now concentrating its efforts on collaborating on projects of Star Wars with other studios. The studio is also experimenting with ideas to create a new IP.
“While they’ve moved on from the previous project they’ve spoken about and aren’t pursuing it, they are continuing to build new ideas and experiment with new IP for EA, in addition to continuing to collaborate with other EA studios,” said a company spokesman in a statement to GameSpot.
It is no secret that Criterion is currently working on the development of the VR experience for Star Wars Battlefront. Likewise, the studio also designed the gaming system of the speeder bikes of Battlefront, so it would not be surprising that the studio is also supporting the development of its sequel.
As you remember, the title of extreme sports of Criterion (which never had a title) was to include helicopters, planes, winged costumes and more. The main point of the game was to provide different experiences in vehicles that players had never experienced before.
What do you think of this title? Does it hurt that you can never get your hands on this project? Do tell us in the comments below.
