BioWare talks about the development of Jade Empire 2
If you are a fan of BioWare surely you will agree that there is a jewel of this studio that in recent years has not had much relevance. We refer to Jade Empire, a title that debuted in 2005, and it seems that, it is a candidate to have a sequel.
The game was released in 2005 on the original Xbox and after a few years came to PC, and although it enjoyed a good reception from gamers and critics, sales did not favor for the title and the official news about a sequel never came. Now, BioWare creative director Mike Laidlaw, spoke to Game Informer about this situation, mentioning that “Jade as a sequel is never dead.”
But that’s not all, because Aaryn Flynn, general manager of the studio, also shared his opinion about the possible sequel to Jade Empire.
“There are a lot of people still at the studio who worked on that game and want to get back to it,” said Flynn. “I think one of the advantages to getting back to it after a long time is not only nostalgia is a very powerful feeling in people, but skipping a generation of hardware is actually really exciting because it feels like it’s not an evolution. It’s a revolution of what you can do, and I think that’s the kind of thing that brings people.”
As if that was not enough, Flynn made it clear that talks about Jade Empire 2 are happening in the studio. “What if we were to revolutionize Jade Empire and brought it back in that regard? That’s the kind of talk that still happens around the studio,” he said.
Thus, although there is nothing concrete by the studio, it is enough to know for many fans that there are chances of returning of Jade Empire in the future. Would you like to see a sequel?
For now, you can play Jade Empire on Xbox, Xbox 360, PC or the new port which debuted for iOS in early October.
