Rumor: Battlefield 2018 Will Be Set During Second World War

Electronic Arts has already widely confirmed that a new Battlefield chapter is currently under development and will be launched later this year.

The new iteration of the saga will probably be presented in the next E3 (2018), and at the moment it is unclear whether the chapter in question is the so much noisy Battlefield Bad Company 3 or a new regular episode. Regarding this, there are several rumors circulating for some time, according to which it could be set during the Second World War.

In the past few hours, the site One Angry Gamer has discovered further clues that could confirm this hypothesis. On the Artstation page of Peter Olofsson Hermanrud, a former employee of DICE currently employed by Bungie, there are two weapons renderings (dating back to a year ago): one is clearly a PPSh-41 rifle, a Soviet machine gun used during the Second World War, and that has nothing to do with the Battlefield setting 1, set during the First World War.

Needless to say that we are in the field of speculation, so this information should be taken with a pinch of salt. At the moment we cannot help but wait for an official announcement by Electronic Arts and DICE.

Battlefield 1, meanwhile, is preparing to receive the fourth and last expansion, Apocalypse. Apocalypse will introduce 5 new maps: Passchendaele, Caporetto, River Somme, Razor’s Edge, and London Calling. These last two will be part of an unprecedented mode called Assault Aircraft, in which we will have to play in frenetic air battles.

The expansion will also include new hand-to-hand weapons such as the cleaver and the crowbar, 6 new firearms including the SMG Chauchat-Ribeyrolles machine gun, new gadgets such as the AA rocket launcher for the Assault class, new assignments, a new type of specialization (Limitations) and new unlockables.

For all the details and information on the case, we suggest you take a look at the official site of Battlefield 1.
