Xbox One X Increased Revenue for Microsoft’s Gaming Division

Microsoft presented its financial report for the most recent fiscal quarter. In it, the company revealed that the launch of Xbox One X helped the revenue of its gaming division to present an annual growth.

According to Microsoft, its gaming division showed an annual growth of 8%. This was thanks to the fact that, during the last months of 2017, the sale of Xbox hardware increased 14% thanks to the launch of Xbox One X. It is important to point out that, true to its tradition, Microsoft did not disclose the number of units that have sold for its consoles.

On the other hand, the company also reported that the sale of software and services related to Xbox grew 4%. Although it is a lower growth than last year, this is because its only exclusive was Forza Motorsport 7, while in 2016 its year-end alignment consisted of Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4.

Later, Microsoft confirmed that the number of monthly active users of Xbox LIVE showed a growth of 7% compared to the same period last year. Thanks to this, Microsoft’s online platform has 59 million active users per month. It is important to note that this takes into account all Xbox LIVE users on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC and not just those who pay their Gold membership.

With all the above, this division of Microsoft presented revenues of $3.92 billion. To put things in perspective, we want to tell you that, in the previous fiscal quarter, Xbox revenues were $1.8 billion.
