Xbox Live Gold Subscription Price to Increase in Six Countries

In the same way that happened in Mexico, Microsoft plans to increase the price of Xbox LIVE Gold subscription in 6 countries: Austria, Hungary, Israel, South Africa, Sweden and Turkey.

The information was released by Game Informer, after receiving an email from a reader in South Africa who warned about this rising prices. In this email, Microsoft announced that the price would rise to triple according to the currency of that country, that is, from 50 ZAR ($3.20 USD) to 159 ZAR ($10.19 USD).

Also in the mail the company mentions that prices will change from June 20 this year in the aforementioned countries, in order to remain as the monthly subscription in the United States, which is priced at $9.99 USD; for now, the new rates were not disclosed.

“We occasionally update pricing in a given market to provide a balance of service and value, and in some instances, meet currency fluctuations within the region, and will be adjusting the price of Xbox Live Gold subscription in a small number of markets on June 20, 2016. We do so always keeping in mind that our goal is to offer our members the premium gaming and entertainment service at a fair price.”

In Mexico, the price of Xbox LIVE Gold rose last Feb. 18, an increase of over 65% as a result of the devaluation of the Mexican peso against the dollar. The Xbox Live Gold for 12 months increased from $599 MXN ($32 USD) to $999 MXN ($54 USD).
