Rumor: Super Smash Bros. Could Come To Nintendo Switch

An old rumor has returned, it’s about the possibility of seeing Super Smash Bros. on Switch, something that Nintendo fans have been waiting for a long time.

Although there is no official announcement at the moment, the website of Japanese Nintendo found trademarks of multiple brands, including amiibo, The Legend of Zelda, Splatoon, Animal Crossing, characters for Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Pokemori, and Marika. However, what caught most attention is the Super Smash Bros. trademarks.

While everything is a rumor at the moment, this could mean that Nintendo is working on a Super Smash Bros. of Wii U port for Switch, or that the company is already preparing a new installment of this franchise.

The rumors about Super Smash Bros. for Switch emerged from January 2016, when the console still had the Nintendo NX codename. At that time, it was said that Bandai Namco is working on several games for Switch, among them is the Super Smash Bros.

Later, in April of the same year, it was said that Switch would have Wii U ports. In the list, there were games like The Legend of Zelda, Xenoblade Chronicles X and, obviously, Super Smash Bros. The truth is that only Breath of the Wild came to the hybrid console.

The last rumor, in December of 2016, indicated that the port of Super Smash Bros. would include more content and 2 new characters, as well as some characteristics of the version of Nintendo 3DS. Recall that something similar happened with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

The truth is that these are just rumors, and although all point to the version of Super Smash Bros. for Switch, Nintendo continues without confirming any information.

Finally, we must remember that in March of this year Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America, mentioned that “at some point in the future – who knows when – all our franchises will arrive [on Switch].” To this, we add that the hybrid console already has support for GameCube controls, so it would be possible to play Super Smash Bros. without problems.
