Troubleshooting Blizzard Server issues:

1. Heroes of the Storm is a online multilayer beta game. Sometime it happens that you are unable to connect to servers. There are certain tips that can help you to sort out the matter.

2. Run Windows Update. Most of the Blizzard games do not work well if you are using an outdated version of Windows. In the system requirement itself you can see that you need the latest Service Pack to run the game smoothly.

3. Update Windows drivers. Try running a driver update that will help. You can either download the latest drivers of your motherboard through its official site or you can run any free driver updater software. LAN driver’s update is the first requirement.

4. Sometime the connection is blocked by security software or firewall. Try to disable them and test the game. If it works then you have to remove or keep the security software off while playing.

5. Flush DNS. In Windows, press Ctrl + R from keyboard. Type cmd and then type ipconfig /flushdns and then hit the Enter button. For Mac go in Apple menu > System Preferences > Network > Advance > Renew DHCP Lease.  For OS X 10.10 Yosemite type sudo discoveryutil mdnsflushcache in Go > Utilities > Terminal. And for OS X 10.9 Mavericks and OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion type sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder in terminal.

6. Fixing file permission will also help in Windows and Mac both. Both are having different ways to fix this thing. In Windows, you can try running the game in Safe mode. Or you can create a new admin account and run the game installation with full privileges. See that the place where game is going to install is not restricted. You can do that by right clicking on the folder > Properties > Security > Advance. In Mac go in Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility > Select the Hard drive > First Aid > Repair Disk Permissions.

7. Verify the network adapter is working well. You can find that by simple ping command. In Windows you will have to type that in CMD while in Mac you will have to use Terminal. Just type ping 127.1.1.1 –t and hit enter. If you are getting a constant response then the network card or adapter is working fine. But if not and there is a high latency then you have to update the drivers or replace it.

8. Resetting the router will also help. It is common that there are multiple devices connected to the router for internet sharing. Try to reduce the connection. Turn of Wi-Fi and connect your pc through LAN cable. If this does not help, reset the router settings and test back. Updating router/modem firmware will also help.

9. Running a Trace Route can also help you to find where the issue is exactly. It is quite simple to generate a log report and then use it for further troubleshooting. In Windows run CMD and type tracert SERVER.IP.ADDRESS > c:\tracert.txt and then hit enter. In the C Drive open tracert.txt for more information. For Mac you have to type traceroute xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx > ~/Desktop/tracert.txt in Terminal. And press the Return key. Below is the server IP of Blizzard for Heroes of the Storm. For more details cli

10. Check your internet connection. It must be stable. If your internet speed is fluctuating then you won’t be able to play properly. Slow or breaking internet connection can cause lagging issue in the game.
