As we get closer to E3 2019, the information begins to flow more quickly and some rumors begin to be denied or confirmed, as the case is not occupied on this occasion. Last March, a rumor urged that George RR Martin, writer of Game of Thrones, was working with FromSoftware for a new video game project that would be an open world title and after weeks of silence, it seems that this will stop being speculation and will become reality.
A few moments ago, the information related to the participation of George RR Martin in a video game gained strength after the same creative pointed out in his official blog that among all the activities he has done now is what he defined as a “consultancy” to a video game developed in Japan. However, moments after the accuracy of the information was confirmed, Gematsu turned on the hype by noting that sources very close to what happens in FromSoftware confirmed that, indeed, George RR Martin is working with the Japanese studio in a title that has the code name “GR”.
According to the information that comes from FromSoftware, “GR” has been in development for 3 years and it is an open world title that is being created by Hidetaka Miyazaki and George RR Martin with the support of Bandai Namco, who will be responsible for its publication. Also, sources say that this project will be officially revealed in the framework of the presentation of Xbox in E3 2019.
It should be mentioned that, except for the statements of George RR Martin, there is nothing official yet from FromSoftware or Bandai Namco, so this information must be taken with due precautions until the companies confirm or deny it.
So far, rumors indicate that this open world game will have a theme of realms that will give the user freedom to travel each place with a progression system similar to that of Mega Man, so, in addition to choosing the route, after winning the bosses the character will absorb their skills.
What do you think about this possibility between FromSoftware and George RR Martin?
